How to Post About Your Passion Without Bugging People

Ok, I’ll admit it … I sometimes do a self-inventory of my social media channels- Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Blogs, etc., and as I scroll through my posts I realize that I am  “THAT guyl”.
You know the one that posts about Politics, Religion, motivating quotes, and yes, even funny videos of dogs or cats.
I used to worry about my reputation from a social etiquette standpoint – am I posting too much? Are people getting annoyed? Should I shut up now? Should I stop posting altogether? After all, there are countless articles and memes online that mock politics and motivational quotes.
But whenever I have a thought about shutting up, not posting anymore, or leaving fitness altogether – I receive an email, a text, a post, a mention in someone’s comment online who is thanking me for the motivation to exorsise or to do moe blogging. .
The truth is, every SINGLE one of those instances continues to make an imprint on my heart and gives me the courage to keep moving forward with my commitment to helping others make even just a FEW healthier choices in their lives. I mean, SOMEBODY’S gotta do it, right?
So here are 3 quick things to consider before posting something that YOU find interesting when you’re not sure if others will find interesting:
• Have you posted something similar before? If so, what can you add to the post to make it more unique, informational/useful for people? (tips, advice, motivational quotes)
• Is your post structured in such a way that people can ask you questions/advice on your subject without feeling awkward?
• Is the purpose of your post to seek approval from others or to EMPOWER them to join you in whatever you’re posting about? (Aim to empower).
I believe that as long as your heart is in the right place when you post and you’re doing it for the benefit of the greater good you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Sometimes we all need a little motivation, a little kick in the pants to keep moving forward. So don’t be afraid to share those moments when you feel strong like when you reach a new goal or when you find an interesting article. It’s inspiring.
The moral of the story is you have to operate from a place of PASSION. Find what motivates you/makes you feel the MOST alive and follow that WHEREVER it leads you.
No matter what. And don’t worry about the naysayers, the criticizers, or the doubters because the truth is, only a small percentage of us actually take the necessary risks to seek and pursue what we TRULY love – our PASSION.
So find THAT and follow it – whether it’s fitness, finance, music, knitting, painting- whatever it is – keep going AND posting about it. Passion and energy are ridiculously contagious. More people are benefitting from the information you share than you realize, even when it doesn’t seem like it.
Please leave your comments below – I would love to hear them!
